Russia plans to make "big changes" in its armed forces

Russia announced yesterday that its armed forces will undergo "significant changes" from 2023 to 2026, including its structure, as well as administrative reforms.

The Defense Ministry said the changes would happen as Russia increases the number of its military to 1.5 million personnel.

"There is no way to ensure the military security of the state and protect new entities and vital installations in the Russian Federation except by strengthening the main structural components of the armed forces," said Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu.

This comes at a time when Ukraine urged the West to speed up its supply of weapons, after 40 were killed in a Russian missile attack that hit a residential building in the city of Dnipro, killing at least 40 people, with Ukrainian forces under increasing pressure on the eastern front.
