The influx of children to the preschool in Eskilstuna has decreased in recent years.

Last year there were 200 fewer children than before, and according to the pre-school board's forecast, the trend is expected to continue and the number of children of pre-school age will be another 200 fewer in 2023. According to the pre-school board's business plan, costs in the pre-school need to be reduced by SEK 40 million to bring the economy into balance.

During a press conference on Tuesday, the municipality explained the situation.

In order to deal with the problems, they look at premises costs, among other things - but there is also a risk that a notice from staff may come.

However, it is unclear when one can be added.

- Notification is a long process, many factors play a role when we are there, says pre-school head teacher Tina Persson.

Currently, the municipality sees that between 50 and 75 permanent employees may be affected.

But before a notice is issued, the municipality must try to find other solutions during the spring.
