Nebenzya: Russia calls on the UN to assist in the release of human rights activist Berezhnaya

This was stated during a speech at a meeting of the Security Council, Russia's Permanent Representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya.

He said that Berezhnaya, who for eight years “studyed and documented the process of the formation of neo-Nazism in Ukraine,” was arrested by Ukrainian special services and is being held on charges of treason.

“We have repeatedly drawn the attention of the Secretary-General and the members of the Security Council to this egregious case.

We call on the leadership of the UN to actively contribute to her release, ”TASS quotes Nebenzya.

In March, Russia's Permanent Mission to the UN expressed concern about information about the detention of Berezhnaya by the SBU.
