The Government delegate against Gender Violence,

Victoria Rosell

, has indicated this Tuesday that last December she gave an instruction to attend within 24 hours to women who request telematic devices to control their aggressors when they see their prison sentence cut in application of what is known as the law of only yes is yes.

As indicated in the presentation of the State Strategy to combat sexist violence, he communicated his instruction to the center in charge of managing alerts, to the Prosecutor's Office and to the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ).

No judge has so far ordered this control measure for these victims.

According to Equality sources, the measures to keep the aggressors away from the victims are still in force after their release from prison and Penitentiary Institutions monitor that the man complies with them.

Now the control devices that protect victims of gender violence are extended to these cases.

Equality took this step in the face of the news of "surprising" sentence reviews for the victims and of some and "unexpected" releases, Rosell explained, noting that the victim care and protection telephone service has also been opened to these victims of Gender Violence (Atenpro).

The delegate recalled that the objective is for all victims of sexual violence to have access to these services as of 2024, as established by the law for the comprehensive guarantee of sexual freedom (the law of only if it is yes), for which It foresees a new tender for the service this 2023.

It is the judges who can order the activation of these devices when they dictate a measure to remove the aggressor from the victim and, as Rosell has explained, none has yet been ordered after his investigation, that the Prosecutor of the Violence against Women Chamber has transferred all the provincial prosecutors.

Telematic control devices allow the aggressor to be geolocated and generate an alarm signal when restraining orders are violated.

As Rosell explained, in addition to expanding the type of victims covered, technological improvements are being made to the system with European funds and an application is going to be developed to minimize the "re-victimization" that some women have warned they suffer from having to carry the telematics device.

The first devices were purchased in 2009 and by the end of 2022 more than 3,000 were active.
