A family dispute almost turned tragic on Saturday evening in Brest.

A little before midnight, the police officers of the anti-crime brigade intervened in Square Madeleine-Savary.

On the spot, they were welcomed by a group of four people, including a woman, all of Portuguese nationality.

Two brothers present in the group then explained that they had been threatened a little earlier by a cousin.

He pulled out a handgun and threatened to kill them.

Also present in the group, the cousin in question, aged 37, was arrested and the weapon found in the passenger compartment of his vehicle.

It was a semi-automatic pistol of 8 mm caliber, indicates the parquet floor of Brest.

Summoned to court in June

According to the first elements, the dispute between the mis en cause and his cousins ​​was "around the realization of a construction site and / or about the non-return of a loaned machine", specifies Camille Miansoni, public prosecutor from Brest.

In police custody, the accused admitted carrying and transporting a weapon while contesting the death threats.

Already convicted of domestic violence, he will be tried in court in June.

In the meantime, the individual has been placed under judicial supervision with a ban on possessing a weapon and on entering into contact with the victims.

He faces a maximum sentence of 7 years in prison and a fine of 100,000 euros.
