It was in 2014 that Norsjö municipality decided on the investment to speed up the move-in.

But only four lots were sold and none of the buyers even applied for legal title to build a home, something that Norran was the first to tell.

According to the municipal council, the investment should have been scrapped several years ago, it has only meant more work.

- The land price is not the decisive factor in a move.

Now the rules return to how they were before.

We are developing attractive and lakeside plots that people can buy at normal prices, says Mikael Lindfors (S).

He hopes that the interest in building in the municipal areas near Skellefteå, for example Gumboda, will be affected by the construction of the battery factory.

- In the long term, we believe that it can become more attractive to live in those areas, he says.
