“On January 16, 2023, Russian means of airspace control over the Baltic Sea detected an air target approaching the state border of the Russian Federation,” the statement says.
It is noted that a
Su-27 fighter from the air defense forces of the Baltic Fleet was lifted into the air.
The crew of the Russian aircraft identified the approaching object as a P-3C Orion of the German Navy and escorted it over the Baltic Sea.
“Violation of the state border of the Russian Federation is not allowed,” the text emphasizes.
In December, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that a Russian MiG-31 had escorted a Norwegian reconnaissance aircraft over the Barents Sea.
