The researcher specializing in Israeli affairs, Adel Shadid, did not rule out that the Israeli government, led by Benjamin Netanyahu, would resort to escalation with the Palestinians to cover up its internal failure, in light of the continued demonstrations and protests in the Israeli street in rejection of the right-wing government and its decisions.

He said that if the protest discourse inside Israel continues and develops into civil disobedience, then Netanyahu will have no choice but to escalate against the Palestinians, perhaps in the Gaza Strip or the Palestinian Negev square, especially in light of statements by extremists calling for not maintaining the current situation in the Negev, and there is talk of giving injections. And needles for Palestinian women to reduce childbearing.

For his part, the Secretary-General of the Palestinian National Initiative, Dr. Mustafa Barghouti, expected that the Netanyahu government would move to escalate against the Palestinians, especially as it threatened ethnic cleansing. It is likely that the expected Israeli attack will target specific sites such as the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood and the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Knowing that the Israeli security escalation continues in the West Bank, the Palestinian child Omar Lutfi Khamur (14 years old) died of a bullet wound to the head fired by the occupation soldiers.

In his speech to the episode (1/16/2023) of the “Beyond the News” program, the Secretary-General of the Palestinian National Initiative called on the Palestinians, leadership and people, to exploit the internal division in Israel in order to unite ranks and escalate field resistance, in addition to stopping security coordination with Occupation and movement at the international level to impose sanctions on Israel and stop normalization between it and some Arab regimes.

In Barghouti's opinion, what is happening inside Israel in terms of disagreement between the government and the opposition proves that the Zionist movement has entered into a deep crisis, reflecting the state of internal fragmentation in this entity.

While the researcher specialized in Israeli affairs confirmed that what the Netanyahu government is doing, if it implements its plans, is a revolution against the entire judicial and legal system in Israel, indicating that the demonstrators opposed to this government have announced that their demonstrations and protests will be every Saturday, and the matter may develop into civil disobedience, because Lawyers and judges threaten not to comply before the courts, as well as members of the police who threaten not to comply with orders.

Amendments in the judicial system

Israeli President Haim Herzog had warned of what he described as a historic constitutional crisis threatening Israel, in reference to the escalating dispute between the opposition and the government over amendments that Netanyahu seeks to introduce in the judicial system, which require reducing the powers of the Supreme Court to restrict the laws and decisions issued by the Knesset and the government.

These provisions also provide for strengthening the immunity of deputies and ministers in the face of any investigations or prosecutions while carrying out their duties.

For his part, the military affairs correspondent for Radio Israel, Eyal Alima, acknowledged the existence of an internal schism in Israeli society, stressing that the conflict does not take place between the right and the left, but rather a dispute between the moderate right and the extreme right in the extreme right.

While he did not rule out that Netanyahu's amendments would lead to a change in the Israeli regime, the Israeli guest told the "Beyond the News" program that the talk is about a judicial coup, in which the government is in control of the judiciary and imposes its decisions on the judiciary and the courts.

However, the spokesman ruled out that the escalation with the Palestinians is related to the political changes inside Israel, although he preferred the escalation because there are parties outside the Israeli army that may try to impose their control on the West Bank, which is the biggest dream of the religious people in the Netanyahu government, as he said.
