Between 2000 and 2022, the percentage of women who snuff daily in Sörmland increased from two to six percent.

For men, the increase is from 19 to 21 percent.

New for the 2022 survey, compared to the previous ones, was the inclusion of tobacco-free nicotine snuff.

According to the report, this can partly explain the apparently sharp increase.

Daily snus among women in Central Sweden is most common in the 18-29 age group.

For men, it is the age group 30-49 years.

Many want to quit

The report also states that 31 percent of those who snuff daily want to quit.

Ten percent need help to quit and the overall use of nicotine products is twice as common in men as in women.

24 percent of men use nicotine daily, while 12 percent of women do.

At the same time as the proportion of snuffers increases, the proportion of people who smoke daily decreases.
