At least 68 people died after the plane plunged into a steep ravine, disintegrated and caught fire near the central Nepal city of Pokhara on Sunday.

Soldiers have been using ropes and stretchers to retrieve bodies from the 300-meter-deep ravine late into the night.

- We have so far sent 63 bodies to the hospital, says police officer AK Chhetri on Monday.

The fog makes it difficult

Rescue work has resumed in the morning, but has been hampered by fog.

- We will continue the search after one or two hours when the weather clears, says AK Chhetri.

The plane, which came from the capital Kathmandu, crashed near a newly opened airport in Pokhara.

There were 72 people on board, of which 68 were passengers and four crew members, according to Yeti Airlines.
