“The Embassy is aware of several cases of refusals to Russians at the point of entry into Mexico, not due to their citizenship, but to doubts, possibly caused by an analysis of the answers to questions about the purpose of the trip to Mexico, which are asked by migration officials,” TASS reports.

The diplomatic mission noted the commitment of Mexico to the open door policy for citizens of all states, which was also applied during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“There are no restrictions on citizenship for entry into Mexico either by e-Authority or by visa, provided that all established requirements are met,” the embassy said.

Earlier, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Yevgeny Ivanov said that Moscow was working on agreements on a visa-free regime for Russians with Mexico, Malaysia, Bahrain, Oman, Saudi Arabia and some other countries.
