The criminal court of Avignon (Vaucluse) sentenced this Friday to three years in prison a 42-year-old motorist who appeared for having knocked down a police officer.

The victim had received 20 days of ITT.

Police bikers believing that the defendant was driving dangerously wanted to check him around 7 p.m.

The man then fled, repeatedly breaking the Highway Code and putting bikers at risk.

Finally stopped by police vehicles, the driver stopped before restarting and hitting an official on the sidewalk.

Already convicted several times for violence and possession of weapons and drugs, the forty-year-old said he did not notice that he had mowed down the policeman.

He explained that he fled for fear of being worried because he was wearing an electronic bracelet and had firework mortars in his car.
