Germany: A car crashes into the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin and the driver dies

A person died after his car crashed into a pillar at the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin yesterday evening, according to German police.



A Berlin police spokesman said in the early hours of the morning that firefighters had found the driver dead in the car.

There was only the driver in the car.



Police officers rushed to the scene and secured the area.



The car crashed into the landmark in the capital at around 11:30 pm Sunday local German time (2230 GMT).
