“The transfer of these funds will leave us as an army temporarily weaker, there is no doubt,” Sanders was quoted as saying by The Times.
He noted that sending the tanks would "leave a gap" in British stockpiles and make it harder for the country to meet its NATO obligations.
The head of the general staff also expressed concern in the British army in connection with this decision.
Earlier, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky about plans to supply the Ukrainian Armed Forces with Challenger 2 tanks and additional artillery systems.
