The 28-year-old Filipino-American was crowned Miss Universe, a beauty pageant contested by representatives from countries around the world.

According to CNN broadcasting on the 15th (local time), Alboni Gabriel, who participated as the US representative, won the 71st Miss Universe pageant held in New Orleans, Louisiana the day before.

Gabriel, who made it to the 'Top 3' final, took first place, beating representatives from Venezuela and the Dominican Republic.

84 delegates from all over the world participated in this event.

Gabriel, who was crowned Miss Universe under the age limit of 28, emphasized that age does not matter.

In her acceptance speech, she said that "age does not define who we are as women" and that the age limit for contestants at Miss Universe needs to be raised.

Miss Universe organizers introduced Gabriel as an Asian American who represents the value of expanding diversity.

A native of Houston, Texas, Gabriel was born into a Filipino family that immigrated to the United States, where she currently works as a model and fashion designer.

Earlier, Gabriel said she was crowned Miss USA last October, but she was also embroiled in controversy after other contestants claimed that the pageant results were manipulated.

The organizers of Miss Universe continued to investigate the Miss USA manipulation controversy, but explained that Gabriel had won the Universe competition fairly.

The operation and ownership of the Miss Universe pageant passed last year from IMG Worldwide, an American event and entertainment agency, to a famous transgender entrepreneur in Thailand.

Thailand's JKN Global Group, run by transgender female entrepreneur Chakrapong Chakrajutatip, bought a stake in the Miss Universe organizing committee for $20 million (approximately 25 billion won) in October last year.
