For his part, an airport official said that the stricken plane was a twin-engine ATR-72 operated by Yati Airlines and was heading to Pokhara from the capital, Kathmandu.

Yati Airlines spokesman Sudarshan Partola said that 68 passengers and four crew were on board when the plane crashed between the old airport and Pokhara International Airport.

Navigational data for the stricken Nepali passenger plane with registration number (9N-ANC) showed that it left Kathmandu airport at 6:35 Doha time, on an internal flight to Pokhara airport, before it disappeared from the radar at 8 am due to a sudden drop in altitude.

The data obtained by Sanad Agency showed a disturbance in the speed and height of the plane from take-off until the time of its fall.
