Good evening,
Manfred Koehler
Head of department of the Rhein-Main editorial team of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.
Follow I follow
Of course, we from the regional department of the FAZ are particularly interested in municipal elections
(and we always hope you are too!), but this year it's going to be really big:
On February 12th, the new mayor will be elected in Mainz, on March 5th in Frankfurt and on March 19 in Darmstadt
, and on the Sunday in between there is a free election in the Rhine-Main area, but not in northern Hesse, because then the citizens of Kassel (which we cleverly avoid whether it is now called Kasseler or Kasselaner) are called upon to elect a mayor.
And because quite a lot of women and men want to move into the most beautiful offices of the respective town halls, runoff elections can actually be expected everywhere.
A never-ending festival of communal democracy.
Mechthild Harting gives a detailed overview.
Hannelore Kraus has died.
It was the woman who was remembered by Frankfurters with a “No”: In 1989 she had not approved the construction of a “Campanile” high-rise building on the south side of the main train station, even though she was offered millions.
However, her consent as the owner in the neighborhood would have been required, and so the tower was never built.
But Kraus was more than the woman who resisted big money, she also ran a boarding house where many artists lived and still live.
Hannelore Kraus was 83 years old.
Frankfurt AM Main
is still correct,
the flood in Hesse has not yet spread so far that Frankfurt IM Main would be more accurate.
But in many rivers in the region, such as the Kinzig, the water level has already risen significantly. In Heuchelheim in the Gießen district, the fire brigade even had to go out to save two drivers with their vehicles from a flooded road.
The water levels in Hesse on the rivers Lahn, Fulda and Eder were particularly high.
But also in the Kinzig region and in the Taunus many streams carried a lot of water.

the rush to the authorities where you can get a new driver's license is great,
because
whoever has one that was issued before 1999 and was born between 1959 and 1959 Belonged to in 1964, needs a new one.
I wish you a pleasant evening
Yours, Manfred Koehler
