Private sources revealed to Al-Jazeera Net exciting details from the meetings of the American official with the head of the Libyan unity government, Abdul Hamid al-Dabiba, in Tripoli on the one hand, and with retired Major General Khalifa Haftar in Benghazi on the other hand, whose son Saddam had been asked to be excluded from the meeting, and to cooperate with the government in Tripoli to secure oil fields. oil in eastern Libya.

"reliable partner"

Sources told Al-Jazeera Net in the Libyan capital, Tripoli, that Burns stressed, during his meeting, last Thursday in Tripoli, with the head of the Libyan National Unity Government, Abdel Hamid al-Dabaiba, and a number of his ministers, the need for the elections in Libya to lead to stability.

He described Dabaiba's government as "a reliable partner of the United States."

According to the private sources, Dabaiba asked Burns that the United States work to "unify the international position rejecting negative regional interventions in Libya" as a necessity, he said.

He informed him that his government supports the American position rejecting the presence of Russian "Wagner" mercenaries in Libya.

The head of the Libyan unity government also asked Burns for Libya to be a real strategic partner for the United States in the political, security and economic fields.

Al-Dabaiba confirmed that his government is seeking to hold "real" elections that would create a state of stability, and not result in chaos.

He said that the differences between the parties to the crisis in Libya are political differences, denying the existence of any governmental division in the executive state institutions.

Dabaiba told the US intelligence official that his government has a plan to increase oil exports to 3 million barrels per day over the next three years.

Al-Dabaiba asked Burns that the US embassy in Libya resume its activities from the capital, Tripoli, describing the security situation in the city as "appropriate" for that, and denying the existence of any fears threatening the embassies in the capital.

A joint force between Haftar and the Libyan army

On the other hand, sources told Al-Jazeera in the city of Benghazi (eastern Libya) that US intelligence chief William Burns assured retired Major General Khalifa Haftar, during their meeting last Thursday at his headquarters in the Al-Rajma area on the outskirts of Benghazi, the need for a joint force of his forces and the Libyan army forces in western Libya to take over Protecting and securing oil and water sources and borders in the south of the country.

According to the same sources, Burns warned - during the meeting, which lasted about half an hour with Haftar - against harming the oil ports and fields.

He said that the United States stresses the necessity of stabilizing the Libyan oil sector and not stopping its export, as happened in previous times.

Al-Jazeera sources revealed that Haftar asked Burns to communicate more with the American side and support it, and that the American communication in Libya not be limited to the government of Abdul Hamid al-Dabaiba.

The sources stated that Burns stipulated that Haftar, in return, should deal with the national unity government and allow it to operate from the eastern regions of the country in order to preserve what he called "the unity of the country's executive institutions," and to prevent the division from widening.

The sources say that the Americans requested that Haftar's sons not attend the meeting in Benghazi, especially Saddam (communication sites)

Without the sons of Haftar

Al-Jazeera sources from eastern Libya said that the US intelligence refused the presence of any of Haftar's sons, especially his son Saddam, for a meeting between him and William Burns and a team accompanying him from the US intelligence last Thursday.

The sources stated that the United States considers Khalifa Haftar among its security and military partners in Libya.

She said that Burns met during his visit to Benghazi with a US army force consisting of dozens of officers who had been stationed for years with members of the "CIA" in a camp on the outskirts of the city.
