Around 5:30 p.m., while traveling on departmental road 54 at Beaulieu-sur-Layon south of Angers, the driver was hit by an oncoming vehicle.
According to the Angers prosecutor's office quoted by the daily, the driver of the second vehicle, aged 69, would have left his traffic lane for a reason still unknown.
Despite attempts to revive him, he died in shock.
Pregnant, the driver was rushed to the Angers University Hospital where she gave birth a few hours later.
The days of the mother and her baby would not be in danger, specifies
