“The implementation of the project is under the special control of the Governor of the Irkutsk region Igor Kobzev,” the authorities said.

The cost of the work will be 106 million rubles.

“The existing pedestrian bridge is in disrepair, so the decision was made to first make a temporary crossing that will be used by residents during the construction of the new bridge,” said Maxim Lobanov, Minister of Transport and Roads of the Irkutsk Region.

The pedestrian bridge across the Snezhnaya River was built in the 1970s, it connects the village of Novosnezhnaya with the village of Vydrino, Republic of Buryatia, where all social facilities, pharmacies and shops are located.

Construction is scheduled to be completed in the fall.
