A plane with 72 people on board crashed in Nepal, killing at least 16 people.



According to the local time today (15th), Kathmandu Post, etc., ATR72 of Nepal Yeti Airlines, heading from Kathmandu, Nepal to western Pokhara, crashed in Kaski district, Nepal.



"There were a total of 72 people on board, including 68 passengers and 4 crew members," said Yeti Airlines spokesman Sudarshan Bartaula.



Nepalese authorities have deployed a rescue helicopter to the crash site and hundreds of rescuers are searching the hillside crash site.



Nepal Army spokesman Krishna Bandari told Reuters that the plane was blown up and that at least 16 people were killed and that more bodies were expected to be recovered.



The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Nepal is checking whether Koreans boarded the plane.



Videos and photos of what appear to be on-site situations are being shared on Twitter.



In the video, the plane's fuselage catches on fire and emits black smoke, and people come and sprinkle soil to extinguish the fire.
