Set more than a decade after the events of the first film and set in an aquatic space, the highly anticipated sequel to the 2009 sci-fi blockbuster has racked up over $1.3 billion globally.

It is followed by a horror film which maintains its second rank for its second week in theaters: the thriller "M3GAN" returns this weekend with 18 million dollars after a start far beyond analysts' expectations.

"M3GAN" tells the story of a creepy humanoid robot designed - but obviously not very reliable - to be the perfect companion for a young orphan girl.

"Puss in Boots 2: The Last Quest" took third place on the podium with $13 million in revenue for its fourth weekend in theaters.

In this children's film from the universe of the "Shrek" saga, the feline embarks on an epic adventure to restore its nine lives.

In fourth, we find “The worst neighbor in the world”, which recorded nearly 13 million dollars in revenue for its third week.

Adapted from the novel "Old, Grumpy and Suicidal: Life According to Ove" by Swedish author Fredrik Backman, actor Tom Hanks plays the role of a grumpy pensioner who softens up by meeting his optimistic neighbors.

Finally, the action film "Mayday", in which a pilot manages to make an emergency landing of his plane but arrives in a war zone, slips for its first days in the cinemas of the United States and Canada in fifth position with $10 million in revenue.

Here's the rest of the top 10:

6. "House party" ($3.9 million in revenue)

7. "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" ($2.2 million)

8. "The Whale" ($1.5 million)

9. "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" ($1.2 million)

10. "Waltair Veerayya" ($1 million)
