- We collect money to be able to play the Gothia cup.

We have always wanted to go there, says player Lias Pöllänen.

During the three years that the association has collected firs in Karlskrona municipality, the number has increased every year - from roughly 300 firs last year to 450 this year.

For each tree collected, the association receives SEK 50.

The firs help the Baltic Sea

But the Christmas tree collection not only benefits your own coffers, but also life in the Baltic Sea.

In a collaboration with Sportfiskarna Blekinge, the red spruces that are collected will be sunk into the sea, as so-called rice vases, to benefit both fish and small aquatic animals.

- Since 2018, we have lowered 18 rice vases, from Vägga in the west to Hallarum in the east.

We are happy about this collaboration, says Jens Hedlund at Sportfiskarna Blekinge.
