Investigators have arrested one of Bolsonaro's aides at the former justice minister in a case in which supporters of former President Bolsonaro attacked Congress and others in Brazil.

It is expected that the investigation will also proceed with whether Mr. Bolsonaro was involved through interrogation of aides.

On the 8th, about 4,000 supporters of former President Bolsonaro in Brasilia, the capital of Brazil, invaded the Congress and the Presidential Palace, destroyed some of the facilities, and arrested more than 1,300 people.

Brazilian police announced on the 14th that they had arrested Mr. Torres, who was in charge of security measures as the director of the Public Security Bureau in Brasilia at the time of the incident.

He was arrested shortly after returning home on suspicion that he was aware of the plan for the attack but deliberately failed to take countermeasures, such as leaving for the United States just before the incident.

Torres was one of Bolsonaro's close associates who served as justice minister, and from his home, local media wrote a draft decree to reverse the outcome of last year's presidential election should Bolsonaro lose. They say they found the document.

On the other hand, Mr. Torres denied involvement in the incident, posting on Twitter, "I have always acted according to ethics and law. I believe the truth will prevail."

The prosecution is also investigating former President Bolsonaro, who is currently staying in the United States, on suspicion of inciting vandalism, and will also investigate whether Mr. Bolsonaro was involved through interrogation of Mr. Torres.
