The water level rises in Tidan and so also in the ponds.

When the water threatened to overflow and damage the road over Smedjedammen, the bottom hatch in the dam was opened for the first time since 1986.

- It is the highest flow that I can remember, says Mats Klaren, who has overseen the dam since the early 80s.

The water level has risen steadily since the New Year and does not appear to be decreasing yet.

The other hatches have been opened before, but now that the bottom hatch has been opened, about 15 cubic meters of water per second flows out, as opposed to the more normal two cubic meters per second.

Still high levels

Water flows around the county continue to be high.

There is a yellow warning in the western county and down towards Gislaved.

According to the emergency services, the situation is stable and without impact on socially important activities.

The rescue service is in contact with individual property owners in Mullsjö and Gnosjö and more precipitation is expected in the area around Vaggeryd and Gislaved during the night to Sunday, which may increase flows in Lagan.
