The children are getting older and there will be fewer in the corresponding age groups later in the school year.

Something that can lead to their members being directly affected at a later stage.

This is the opinion of Bo Sundahl at the trade union organization Sweden's Teachers in Katrineholm.

School money

He sees an increase in school fees as part of the solution, partly in terms of getting more trained teachers to the school.

- We are below the average in the country.

We have low qualifications for teachers, even in preschool.

It really shouldn't be lower, says Bo Sundahl.

Johan Lindeberg, head of school in Katrineholm municipality, would certainly like to see an increase in school fees.

But at the same time believes that it is not that easy, given the financial situation.

Different conditions

- If we look at comparable municipalities with similar conditions, we can see that we are roughly on par when it comes to large parts of primary school.

However, there is room to make increases and targeted investments in, for example, preschool and also upper secondary school.

But the level of school fees is something that is decided politically, he says.
