Before the regular session of the Diet, the chairmen of the Diet Affairs Committee of the Constitutional Democratic Party and the Democratic Party for the People held talks and agreed to oppose the government's defense tax hike policy. The Democratic Party for the People will not participate in the work team set up by the Democratic Party of Japan and the Japan Restoration Party.

Constitutional Democratic Party Chairman Azumi and National Democratic Party Chairman Furukawa met in the Diet on the morning of the 13th and exchanged opinions on the response to the regular Diet session, which is expected to be convened on the 23rd of this month.

In this meeting, the two leaders agreed to oppose the government's policy of increasing taxes in line with the increase in defense spending, arguing that it is too easy and problematic.

On the other hand, Mr. Azumi asked for cooperation based on the fact that the Constitutional Democratic Party and the Japan Restoration Party would set up a new working team to consider administrative and financial reforms as a countermeasure to secure financial resources, while Mr. Furukawa responded. I told him that I would not participate in the work team because I wanted to make decisions on an individual policy basis.

After the meeting, Azumi said, "Although it's not a 'clean circle,' the Democratic Party for the People will be part of the partnership between the Constitutional Democratic Party and the Japan Restoration Party. For each policy, we will get support for more themes. It would be best to have a system in place," he said.

Mr. Furukawa said, "We will decide the party's way of thinking as a party, and if there is something we can cooperate with, we will cooperate on each policy."
