• Ceuta The Civil Guard detains the former Minister of Health months after his entry to centers for minors was prohibited

The head of the

Investigating Court number 3 of Ceuta

has just ordered the

admission to the Fuerte Mendizabal prison

in

the Autonomous City of Ceuta,

the former Minister of Health of the autonomous government of the North African city,

Javier Guerrero (PP),

accused of allegedly abusing unaccompanied migrant minors who are under the guardianship of the government headed by

Juan Vivas.

The former counselor, who was

forced to resign after the scandal

originated after he was vaccinated against Covid-19 outside the deadlines set for people his age using the position of highest health authority of the Ceuta executive.

Guerrero, a well-known doctor by profession in the city, defended that his vaccination was for being a health professional and being on the front line fighting the virus, when the reality was that he did it

from the offices.

Last Wednesday the doctor was arrested by the Civil Guard at his home, as he himself announced on his

Facebook account,

confirming the news that broke early on Wednesday and that has created a commotion among the citizens of Ceuta.

The court decreed the secrecy of the proceedings, proceeding to carry out searches at his home, his private practice, the one he occupies at the University Hospital and in his private vehicle.

The events that led to the doctor's investigation date back to the migration crisis of May 2021, when thousands of children entered Ceuta alone and

reception protocols had to be adapted

to the humanitarian situation.

Guerrero offered his collaboration as a doctor to care for the minors who were housed in different reception centers in the city.

According to the Ceuta government spokesman,

Alberto Gaitan,

the city went to the prosecutor's office for minors when there were indications, after testimonies from the children themselves, that their behavior violated the protocol with minors, something that those responsible for the area of minors in charge of the custody of the children warned the doctor on several occasions, after these notices, they decided to restrict the entry of the same to dependencies where the minors were sheltered.

The alleged sexual abuse that the Civil Guard has been investigating

for more than a year

have ended with sufficient evidence for the judge to send

the former counselor and former member of

the Popular Party

of Ceuta to

provisional prison without bail .

In the statement in court, Guerrero has only answered the questions asked by his lawyer.

According to sources of the investigation, the testimonies of some minors who had some relationship with the doctor have also been heard.

The entourage of Javier Guerrero, who was running to be a candidate to preside over the Ceuta Assembly with the localist formation founded by himself in the summer of last year,

Ceuta Avanza,

is accusing the PSOE of Ceuta of being behind this

"plot against Mr. Guerrero"

in revenge for not having been able to form a commitment document in view of the electoral results to allow a future government of the Socialists, who according to party sources, were the most affected if the former counselor attended the local elections given its popularity in the city, even after the departure of the Vivas government due to the vaccination scandal.

The

PSOE

of Ceuta has already denied the

accusations against its general secretary

and only requests respect for the investigation so that justice can clarify the matter without making value judgments about it.

More details of the terms of the decision adopted by the judge on Friday night will be known in the next few hours.
