NHK reported that Foreign Minister Park Jin had a phone call with Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi today (13th).

Minister Park seems to have discussed the forced mobilization issue in a phone call with Foreign Minister Hayashi, who is visiting the United States.

Prior to this, Foreign Minister Hayashi met with reporters in New York and said, "The Japanese government will closely communicate with the Korean government to restore and further develop Korea-Japan relations in a sound form based on the foundation of friendly and cooperative relations built since the normalization of diplomatic relations between Korea and Japan in 1965." reiterated its previous position.

At an open forum discussing solutions to forced labor held yesterday, the South Korean government announced that it would seek consent from the victims in the future, saying that it is possible for domestic conscription victims who received a final judgment on compensation from a Japanese company to receive reimbursement from the foundation instead.
