The trial of seven men affiliated with the ultra-right, accused of having met in December after the semi-final of the France-Morocco World Cup to commit violence, was again postponed Friday to September 8 by the Paris court. .

Hearings that were too busy and the need to take time to conclude the proceedings, when the seven defendants were initially to be tried in immediate appearance, motivated this dismissal announced by the criminal court.

The judicial control of four of them, who did not have the right to go to Paris, has been reduced but the seven young men, born between 1998 and 2002, are still prohibited from entering into contact.

They are part of a group of around forty people close to the ultra-right arrested on December 14, 2022 in the 17th arrondissement of Paris, on the sidelines of the France-Morocco match.

According to a police source, the group was preparing to join the Champs-Élysées to face supporters of Morocco.

They are prosecuted for "participation in a group for intentional violence or degradation" and, for some, carrying a weapon, microscopic batons and tear gas canisters having in particular been found.

The former leader of the "Zouaves" under judicial supervision

Among the defendants is Marc de Cacqueray-Valmenier, 24, considered the former leader of the "Zouaves" small group, dissolved in January 2022. He has already been convicted and imprisoned in recent years and is currently indicted and placed under judicial review in another case heard in Bobigny.

Square look, tight jeans and dark sweater, he was present at the hearing to ask for the lifting of the judicial review which, he says, hinders him in his work.

Without success, the court having refused to lift its ban on leaving the 16th arrondissement of Paris.

The six other defendants, living in the Paris region or Rouen, have various profiles.

Among them, temporary workers, law or business students, a real estate agent living in the 16th arrondissement or a versatile employee of Lidl, who says he left the army by “disagreement”.

The 31 other people arrested received a dismissal or alternatives to prosecution.
