Statistics from Försäkringskassan show that the VAB days in Östergötland increased the most in Valdemarsvik and Vadstena municipality with 16 and 13 percent respectively.

While the vab days in Finspång and Boxholm have decreased by six percent.

And it is not automatically the case that the number of vab days increases with more children.

Ödeshög, which has shortened its days, has at the same time had the county's largest increase in the number of children it vacated.

On Gotland, the vab days increased by 12 percent and the number of children for whom it was vab by 8 percent.

Behavioral change

- We think we have seen a change in behavior throughout the country regarding vab with the pandemic.

It means, for example, that it is no longer okay to send snotty children to preschool, says Niklas Löfgren, family financial spokesperson at Försäkringskassan.

In Östergötland, the payout increased by just under seven percent - 430 million in 2022. The payout on Gotland increased by 14 percent, corresponding to SEK 52 million.
