Fespaco 2023: the 15 films in the running for the Golden Stallion of the largest pan-African film festival

It was in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, that the fifteen films in competition at the largest pan-African film festival were announced this Friday, January 13.

Despite two coups in 2022, Fespaco will therefore take place in the land of honest men from March 25 to 4, 2023. The 28th edition is dedicated to “African cinema and the culture of peace”.

Tunisian producer Dora Bouchoucha will chair the jury that will award the Golden Stallion, the supreme award for African cinema.

In total, 170 cinema and television films and series have been selected under the direction of Fespaco's general delegate, Alex Moussa Sawadogo, for this year's eleven categories.

Among the films chosen for the featured feature section are works from Cameroon, Tunisia, Burkina Faso, Senegal, Egypt, Nigeria, Mozambique, Angola, Kenya, Mauritius, Morocco, Algeria and the Dominican Republic.
