China News Service, January 13th Chen Cao, a researcher at the Institute of Viral Diseases of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, said on the 13th that according to the current monitoring data in my country, XBB has not formed a local epidemic.

On the 13th, the joint prevention and control mechanism of the State Council held a press conference on optimizing the management measures for the exchange of Chinese and foreign personnel.

Chen Cao made the above statement when answering reporters' related questions.

Chen Cao said that the monitoring data of the new coronavirus mutant strain in my country showed that from December 1 last year to January 12 this year, only one local XBB infection case was detected in my country.

During the same period, in terms of imported cases, from December 1 last year to January 12 this year, 33 imported cases of XBB and its sub-branches were detected, and they came from 20 countries and regions.

From the perspective of import risk, in the future or for a period of time, my country will face the risk of importing XBB and its sub-branches, causing a greater risk of local related cases.

But judging from the current monitoring data in my country, XBB has not become popular locally.

Chen Cao pointed out that the current research data show that although XBB has a strong transmission ability, after being infected with XBB, the symptoms produced are similar to those of other Omicron strains, and the pathogenicity has not increased significantly.
