In China, the world's largest automobile market, the number of vehicles with low environmental impact, such as electric vehicles (EVs), nearly doubled last year to more than 6.88 million units.

It accounts for one-fourth of all new car sales, and the electrification of cars is accelerating.

According to a Chinese industry group, the number of new EVs, plug-in hybrids, and fuel cell vehicles with low environmental impact last year increased by 93.4% from the previous year to 6,887,000 units. and set a record high.



This accounts for about a quarter of all new car sales, including gasoline cars.



Of these,


5,365,000 are EVs and 1,518,000 are


plug-in hybrid vehicles.



As the government actively supports the spread of EVs, the electrification of vehicles is further accelerating due to competition among domestic and foreign manufacturers.



In Japan, about 58,000 EVs, including light passenger cars, were sold domestically last year, accounting for only 1.7% of the total.



Overall new car sales in China last year were 26.864 million units, up 2.1% from the previous year.



It increased for the second consecutive year due to the increase in EV sales and the effect of the government's economic measures.
