Hear the police tell about the "drug factories" in the clip above.
It was at the beginning of January that a police patrol was driving along the E45 near Mellerud and suddenly smelled a strong smell of cannabis when driving past a house.
When they raided the property, they found that another drug factory in western Sweden had been blown up.
According to Aftonbladet, the drug factory must have been equipped with, among other things, a ventilation system, irrigation and lighting.
And in order not to be detected through high electricity consumption, the cultivation must be powered by a diesel unit on the farm.
Several drug factories found in West Sweden
It is not the first time the police have found a drug factory in the countryside;
two years ago, a factory with thousands of plants was found in Essunga and earlier a cultivation that was operated on an "industrial scale" was blown up in Lysekil.
According to the National Forensic Center (NFC), the police raided 12 large farms in 2018-2019, one of the drug farms had over 1,000 plants.
- There are both international and domestic leagues that cultivate in this way, says scouting leader Per Björkman.
Connection to international networks is investigated
Two men are in custody suspected of serious drug offenses in Mellerud.
They do not belong in Sweden and part of the police investigation will now investigate whether the cultivation has connections to any international network.
- Considering how advanced and organized it is, it seems to be part of a larger plot, says prosecutor Andreas Ferelius.
One of the male suspects admits to the crime, but not a serious crime.
