The death of British Jeff Beck, the "chief guitar player" of rock, blues and even jazz, left a state of grief among his fans, and while his friends and fond of him re-shared their memories with the late artist and his music, others assured that Beck's career will remain unique.

"On behalf of his family, we deeply mourn Jeff Beck who passed away peacefully Tuesday after suddenly contracting bacterial meningitis," a statement posted on the musician's website said on Wednesday night.

Legend and distinction

Beck made his legend with Jimmy Page and Eric Clapton in the band The Yardbirds in the 1960s, and he passed away at the age of 78 on Tuesday.

Beck won 8 Grammy Awards in recognition of his skill, multiple influences, and innovative sense of the electric guitar during a career that spanned nearly 6 decades.

And all his peers, from Mick Jagger to Jimmy Page, most of whom are British of the same generation born in the forties of the last century, stopped at the "genius" of the late musician.

Jagger, frontman of the Rolling Stones, in a video on Twitter paid tribute to Jeff Beck, calling him "an amazing guy and one of the greatest guitarists in the world."

With the death of Jeff Beck we have lost a wonderful man and one of the greatest guitar players in the world.

We will all miss him so much.

Soloist

For his part, Gene Simmons of the hard rock band "Kiss" wrote on Twitter as well, "No one plays like Jeff."

British heavy metal singer Ozzy Osbourne wrote on Twitter: "It's such an honor to have played with him on his latest album."

I can't express how saddened I am to hear of @JeffBeckMusic's passing.

What a terrible loss for his family, friends & his many fans.

It was such an honor to have known Jeff & an incredible honor to have had him play on my most recent album, #PatientNumber9.

Geoff Beck, born in June 1944 near London, is considered one of the best guitarists, and Beck joined Page in the rock band "The Yard Birds" in 1965, immediately after Clapton left.

The duo made a musical legend thanks to famous albums and songs, including "Shapes of Things" and "Over Under Sideways Down", before Page founded the band "Led Zeppelin".

And on Instagram, Jimmy Page, 79, paid tribute to "the six-string warrior who no longer exists to admire the magic he was able to spread over our mortal feelings."

Musical diversification

With a remarkable ability to move from one style to another (rock, hard rock, blues, and jazz), and to constantly innovate with the sound of his instruments, Beck founded in the early 1960s and 1970s the hard rock band The Jeff Beck Group with the then-unknown British singer Rod Stewart and Ron Wood of The Rolling Stones.

"Jeff Beck (came) from another planet," Stewart said Wednesday night.

career and success

Jeff Beck then embarked on a long solo career, during which he achieved success in the mid-1970s with the album Blow By Blow.

In the 1980s and 1990s, he played guitar in concerts for the likes of Mick Jagger, Tina Turner, Roger Waters, and Jon Bon Jovi.

During the 2009 Montreal Jazz Festival, he admitted that "it was very difficult to identify the source of my voice."

He also said that he was influenced by big names in the field, including Les Paul, Ravi Shankar and Django Reinhart.

Beck was also known for the changes he made to the sound of the guitar while playing, in a style that was experimenting in the same period with the band "The Who" by Pete Townsend.

In 2015, Rolling Stone magazine ranked him fifth in its list of the 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time.

Shocked to hear about the death of legendary English guitarist Jeffbeck, 78, from bacterial meningitis.

Last July, Beck released an album and played a concert with his friend, American actor and musician Johnny Depp.

It is noteworthy that Jeff Beck is a fan of acoustic guitars, and he preferred electric ones made by Fender and Gibson brands.
