A scam in the sale of luxury cars, in particular of the Mercedes brand, has been partly dismantled in Bourgoin-Jallieu (Isère).

A seller was indicted on Wednesday by the prosecution, reports

Le Dauphiné

.

It all started with a classified ad spotted on Le Bon Coin in December by a potential buyer.

Interested, the man made an appointment with the seller and closed the sale.

A few days later, he was checked and placed in police custody because the vehicle was the subject of a report after a purchase made with false checks.

He comes to the meeting with the police

The victim continued to monitor the classifieds site and spotted an offer similar to the one he had responded to in early January.

He again contacted the seller, the same as in December, but this time went to the meeting with the Bourgoin-Jallieu police, who arrested the suspect.

In police custody, the latter admitted the facts, explaining that he was involved in these scams to repay a debt.

Judicial information has been opened on these facts and the investigation is continuing to identify the potential other actors in this fraudulent network.
