French police sources said that a number of people were slightly injured today, Wednesday, by a man carrying a knife at the crowded Gare du Nord station in the capital, Paris.

A police source - who asked not to be named - said that the police arrested the attacker after he was shot and wounded.

A French official stated that traffic at the station was disrupted following the accident, but later returned to normal after neutralizing the attacker and imposing a security cordon around the station.

The Gare du Nord station in Paris is a central station and hub for trains heading to the British capital, London, and to northern Europe.
