• Zaragoza Court Reduces the sentence of the rapist of a woman who died from the injuries suffered by three years and nine months by the law of "only if it is yes"

  • Consult The response of the Supreme Court to the Government: the review of sentences by the law of yes is yes "it is mandatory"

The Secretary of State for Equality, Ángela Rodríguez 'Pam', seems to be joking about the early release of dozens of rapists thanks to the review of their sentences generated by the 'only yes is yes' Law.

With more than 100 sexual offenders who in just a few weeks have seen their sentences reduced and the consequent social alarm and criticism that has generated in all sectors, the number 2 of the ministry directed by Irene Montero said last Monday in a forum organized by Podemos : "From the creators of: people are going to go to the register to change their sex every morning... the rapists arrive on the street!".

'Pam' links the protests for this law with the extreme right ("'The rapists on the streets', is what the extreme right throws us in the face," he said) but the reality is that the Supreme Court itself, in the face of confusion generated in the first days of entry into force of the Law, responded to the Government that "the review of sentences is mandatory".

These revisions do not have to mean a mandatory reduction of the sentence, but it is possible to imply it and should be applied if appropriate.

To date, more than 100 have had their sentences reduced.
