Governing in accordance with the law, blatantly supporting anti-China chaos in Hong Kong, blatantly undermining Hong Kong's rule of law and judicial independence, and violating the principles of international law and basic norms of international relations, the spokesperson of the Commissioner's Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Hong Kong expressed strong dissatisfaction and firm opposition.
The spokesperson pointed out that Hong Kong is a society under the rule of law, where laws must be obeyed and lawbreakers must be prosecuted.
The Department of Justice of the Hong Kong SAR government prosecuted according to law, and the SAR court tried Lai Zhiying according to the law, which is justified and just, and no external forces are allowed to point fingers.
While talking about the rule of law, the UK uses the Lai case to wreak havoc on the rule of law and judicial independence in Hong Kong. It provides "support" for suspects regardless of right and wrong. This is just another double-standard farce with no bottom line!
Some British intervening forces have colluded with the anti-China disruptors in Hong Kong at home and abroad. The spokesperson reiterated that Hong Kong is part of China, and Hong Kong affairs are purely China's internal affairs.
The facts of Jimmy Lai's case are clear and the evidence is conclusive. The Hong Kong court will definitely make a fair judgment.
We urge the UK side to recognize the general trend, rein in the precipice, abide by international law and the basic norms of international relations, and immediately stop all colonial talk and perverse actions that interfere with the rule of law in Hong Kong.
