According to police, the knife attack happened just before 7 a.m.

The perpetrator injured six people, including a police officer from the Border Police (PAF).

A police officer pulled out a gun to stop the perpetrator.

According to initial information, the perpetrator was injured and then overpowered.

The background to the crime was initially unclear.

The North Station is one of the most important train stations in the French capital and connects Paris with London (Eurostar) as well as with Brussels, Amsterdam and Cologne (Thalys).

Travel operations were temporarily disrupted by the knife attack.

The crime scene inside the station was cordoned off by the security forces.

Republican Senator Valérie Boyer (LR) criticized the fact that knife attacks in the train station were increasing and have now ended up in the news in the Miscellaneous category.
