The Village des Créateurs, a Lyon institution based in Passage Thiaffait for more than twenty years, has just announced its closure following a general meeting held on Monday.

Created in 2001, this business incubator for fashion designers, decoration and design, had to face financial difficulties.

The refusal to open sponsorship in 2021 and the disengagement of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region last year did not help the situation, underline the metropolis and the city of Lyon in a joint press release.

The latter claim to have "always been alongside" the structure, in particular by offering an "exceptional" complement of subsidies to support it in the ecological transition.

Maintaining the activities of creators

Regarding the future of the 140 members and the fifteen designers and creators, “everything will be done so that they can maintain their activities in the premises of the passage”, promise the metropolis and the city of Lyon.

Their support will now be provided by the metropolitan incubator Lyve, the communities have announced.

"The Passage Thiaffait will continue to live after the closure of the Village des Créateurs", also indicated the metropolis and the city, specifying that they are working "already on a reorientation of its destination" but always "in connection with the textile sector". .
