The three children of a woman found dead in Saint-Raphaël (Var) on December 24, whose husband was arrested on Saturday in Seine-Saint-Denis after two weeks on the run, were found safe and sound in Italy, said Tuesday the prosecutor of Draguignan.

"I confirm" that the couple's children "aged 1, 4 and 7" were found "safe and sound" in Italy, "around Milan", underlined Patrice Camberou, the public prosecutor of Draguignan, confirming information from

He has not yet given further details on how the children ended up in Italy or on their future placement.

The family was trying to regularize their situation in France.

“Possible traces of strangulation and hematomas on the face”

The father, a 39-year-old Tunisian, had “hastily” left the Var with his three children a few days before the discovery of the lifeless body of his 31-year-old wife, also of Tunisian nationality, in their apartment in Saint-Raphaël, had indicated the floor of Draguignan.

The autopsy had "revealed possible traces of strangulation and hematomas on the face", confirming "the homicidal gesture", explained Patrice Camberou at the end of December.

It had made it possible to date the date of death back to December 20 or 21.

After the discovery of the body of the mother of the family, an investigation for intentional homicide had been opened, entrusted to the judicial police of Toulon.

Since then, a judicial investigation has been opened, with referral to an examining magistrate.
