She is not Miss France but it is she who will participate in Miss Universe in New Orleans on January 14.

Floriane Bascou, first runner-up to Diane Leyre, Miss France 2022, revealed on her Instagram account the costume she will wear during the ceremony to represent France.

The designer KenVee Clothing was inspired by the national holiday of July 14 to dress the Martiniquaise.

"It was designed to give the illusion of fireworks in the colors of the French flag," said the 20-year-old young woman in commentary to a video where she parades with this outfit.

Diane Leyre gave up for "lack of time"

The costume is also a nod to the Caribbean origins of the Miss.

"We also find other emblematic symbols including the Eiffel Tower on the headdress," says the young woman.

Floriane Bascou now hopes to do as well as Iris Mittenaere, elected Miss Universe 2016.

Diane Leyre had announced last October to give up the Miss Universe contest due to a "lack of time and preparation" and had supported her replacement.

"I'm sure she will shine and I will support her like all French people during her journey," she wrote on Instagram.
