According to reports, the 75-year-old Weisselberger was once one of Trump's most loyal lieutenants and has worked for the Trump family for a long time.

He testified as the prosecution's star witness in the Trump Organization trial in exchange for a lighter sentence that, if he behaved well, could end up being no more than 100 days.

Weisselberg will initially be assigned to a prison on Rikers Island, which houses the seriously ill as well as some ordinary people.

After being indicted in 2022, Weisselberger has been relieved of his positions in multiple Trump-owned properties, including Mar-a-Lago and the Trump Salary Group.

Among them, the Trump Salary Group is also one of the defendants in Weisselberg's case.

Trump's eldest son is said to have taken Weisselberger's place in the group.

In August 2022, Weisselberg admitted to participating in a 15-year tax fraud scheme and pleaded guilty to multiple charges including falsifying business records.

He agreed to testify in the trial against Trump's real estate company, among other things.

At the end of the same year, a jury in Manhattan, New York convicted two Trump Organization subsidiaries of tax fraud and other criminal charges.

The charges are related to a 15-year tax avoidance scheme for executives who received off-the-books perks, luxury apartments and more without paying taxes.

Trump himself has also been implicated in many other investigations, involving interference in the 2020 presidential election counting and improper handling of confidential documents.
