Ban "Tik Tok" on government agencies in two US states

New Jersey and Ohio said they would join other US states in banning the use of the TikTok app on government-owned and operated devices.

Democratic Governor of New Jersey Phil Murphy confirmed that, in addition to banning the application owned by the Chinese technology company ByteDance, applications, products, programs and electronic services belonging to more than ten companies, including Huawei, Hikvision, Tencent Holdings, ZTE Corporation and Kaspersky Lab, will also be banned.

"There were national security concerns regarding user data that the Chinese government might ask ByteDance to provide," Murphy's office said.

For his part, Republican Governor of Ohio Mike DeWine said that those applications that have been banned pose a threat to security at the national and local levels for users of these applications, platforms, and devices that store applications and platforms.
