Lars Lund, property manager at Älmhult municipality, says that some Älmhult residents describe the building as a disgrace.

Others mourn the demolition and believe that part of Älmhult's cultural history is disappearing.

Hear Lars Lund tell about the demolition, in the clip above.

- I understand both sides, that's life, says Lars Lund.

During Tuesday, the demolition began, which is expected to last until March.

Tearing down the building itself is relatively quick, but it is the sorting that takes the longest.

- There is a lot of material that has to be sorted into different fractions, says Lars Lund.

From the beginning, the White Cross was a maternity hospital and the building is known because, among others, Ingvar Kamprad was born there.
