China has announced that it will suspend the issuance of short-term visas to China for the time being to Korean nationals as a retaliatory measure for South Korea's strengthened quarantine measures for entrants from China.

The Chinese Embassy in Korea said on its social media WeChat official account, "In accordance with Chinese domestic instructions, from today, the Chinese Embassy and Consulate General in Korea will suspend the issuance of short-term visas for visits to China by Korean nationals, including visits, commercial trade, tourism, medical care and general personal circumstances." said.

The embassy added, "The above will be adjusted depending on the situation in which Korea cancels its discriminatory entry restrictions against China."
