"Emma" was helped by social services to leave her partner, now she and her children live with a protected identity.

But the work to sort out her finances has barely begun.

- It's a hell of a lot of pressure, I don't know how I'm going to find accommodation for me and the children, I'll never be able to take out a loan, she says.

She believes that there are many women in her situation who would need support in contacting the Kronofogden and the Tax Agency.

- There is a lot to row in, while you have so much else to think about.

It's about control

According to the National Organization for Women's Shelters and Girls' Shelters in Sweden (Roks), there is a clear connection between financial violence in close relationships and other forms of violence and controlling behaviour.

Being exposed to financial violence in a close relationship increases the dependency position for the woman and makes it more difficult for her to leave the man.

In the clip, you see Emma, whose real name is something else, talk about the violence and the relationship she left.
