Road Safety recently published data on on-board radar checks in unmarked cars carried out in 2021. It appears that 10% of these checks found an infringement, for 72% of checks respecting the limits and 18% within the technical margin ( 10 km / h below 100 km / h and 10% beyond), reports

.

However, not all departments present the same situation.

First of all, not all departments are so controlled by private radar cars.

59 departments, distributed in the South, in the Center-East and around Paris are not yet concerned by these experiments.

For the remaining 39 departments, checks are carried out in greater numbers in the North West, where the tests have been going on for longer.

More than 400,000 checks were thus carried out in 2021 in Manche and Ille-et-Vilaine, compared to 8,000 in Haute-Marne.

54 million euros in fines

Three departments also stand out in terms of the number of offenses recorded.

In the Somme, Ille-et-Vilaine and Deux-Sèvres, more than 14% of controls recorded a speed greater than more than 10% of the authorized limit.

Conversely, less than 8% of checks carried out were 10% above the limit in Pas-de-Calais, Nord, Corrèze and Doubs.

These offenses would occur more on roads limited to 70 km/h than on others.

For these roads, 16.8% of checks exceeded the limit and the technical margin were recorded, compared to only 6% on the roads limited to 130 km/h.

However, it should be noted that most of the checks carried out were carried out on sections limited to 70. In total, these checks by radar cars made it possible to record 538,000 offenses in 2021, for 782,000 license points withdrawn and 54 million euros in fines generated.

Among all the sightings, 21 motorists were flashed over 200 km/h, with a record of 229 km/h on a road limited to 90.
